Sleepy Sun for a Rainy Day

I wanted to continue the thread from yesterday with another California band, and I really need it today as it is a gloomy, rainy day up here in the Northeast. Sleepy Sun is a San Francisco band just like Girls, but the California sound they present is a different side of the spectrum from the light, bouncy Beach Boys inspired pop tunes of Girls. Sleepy Sun plays a much heavier brand of music mixing dark psychedelic rock and proto-metal with some blues, freak-folk and Indian textures to create a sonic tapestry that hearkens back to the halcyon days of the counter culture. This song “Golden Artifact” is the most entrancing and pastoral track from their 2009 debut album Embrace. Even though it’s a few years old, the album still holds up really well. This computer animated video fits the song perfectly.
