Paul Alexander - (Set time: 9:30 PM)
Paul Alexander
Raised on James Taylor, while cutting his teeth on Nirvana, Paul Alexander's diverse heritage is clear in his refreshingly thoughtful and imaginative musical narratives. Playing guitar since he was thirteen and singing almost as soon as he could speak, Paul almost immediately ventured beyond the known and began creating his own very original songs. .... Throughout high school Paul honed his musical abilities, playing with multiple musical ensembles. Then, in college at Indiana University, Paul furthered his musicianship and developed his unique and electrifying songwriting and performance skills while he fronted the band Tintern Abbey, who was selected to be a part of the 2002 Live from Bloomington CD compilation. Finally, after four years with Tintern Abbey, Paul decided to launch a career as a solo artist. .... In addition to boasting a powerful stage presence as well as vocal and lyrical savvy which is somehow familiar even in its uniqueness, this singer/songwriter combines rock, funk and folk to create a most eclectic amalgamation of sound. Named for his mothers favorite songsmith, Paul Simon, Paul Alexander aspires to make his own distinct mark on the world.
Peter Wise - (Set time: 8:30 PM)
Peter Wise
Originally hailing from suburban Massachusetts, Peter Wise (ASCAP) is a senior jazz major at NYU, an avid singer/songwriter, and actively performing musician in New York City. Studying guitar and piano for over sixteen years in various styles, he brings a wide variety of influences including John Mayer, Bon Iver, Joni Mitchell, and Radiohead into his own blend of pop/rock music. Playing all over the city from Webster Hall, Sullivan Hall, The Bitter End and a frequent player at Arlene’s Grocery, Wise had a weekly Saturday night residency at Toshi's Living Room at the Flatiron Hotel on 26th and Broadway this past year. As both an instrumentalist and songwriter, Wise is starting to make his name known. Last year he opened for one of America’s most iconic bands, The Eagles, at a sold out Beacon Theatre on November 15th, an event featured in national news by the Associated Press, the New York Times, and the Washington Post. Wise released his debut EP Don’t Walk Away on October 20th of last year and spent the summer putting together his full-length debut entitled When Day Breaks, out this past November. Wise held his album release party on Saturday November 23rd to a packed Bitter End crowd, and is getting his name out there one show at a time!
