Malek Mia - (Set time: 7:00 PM)
Malek Mia
Malek (May-leek) Mia is a West Indian born singer ,songwriter, composer/producer choreographer. Malek began honing her talents at a very young age after her family moved the United States. While attending schools for the gifted and talented she sang for school choruses and church choirs she also attended schools for ballet and gymnastics. During the summers she would study more of the Performing Arts. Before beginning high school Malek was so good at what she did friends nicknamed her "Starr". Malek's early exposure to performing prepared her to join a local competitive hip hop dance group called the "Bushettes" while in high school. Malek left the group and soon after formed her own group called "Complex". By this time Malek was in high demand as a choreographer competing consistently beating out other dance choreographers for work. Since education was very important in her household Malek began focusing much of her attention on academia throughout her college career. While in college and modeling part time she was spotted and asked to appear in a music video by a record label executive. Wanting an opportunity to sing Malek asked instead if she could possibly be considered for a record deal. Malek sang and was offered a deal but turned it down since it was not in her best interest to accept. Malek continues to sing and write and producing her own music. Malek is currently working on her 1st American style Pop/Pop Rock album to be released 2012-2013
Emily Hulslander - (Set time: 9:00 PM)
Emily Hulslander
Born and raised in central PA, Emily started singing as soon as possible. She took up the violin at age six and still continues to play along with guitar, piano, and a small stint with an alto saxophone. Emily's first musical experiences were participating in rock cover bands from the ages of 13 until she was 18, singing the likes of Nirvana, Incubus, No Doubt, etc. During the last two years of high school she studied guitar at The Uptown Music Collective in her hometown of Williamsport, PA where she participated in recitals and a performance of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon." After moving to Boston in the fall of 2004, she studied Liberal Arts at Fisher College and joined the reggae/ska/rock group The Stolen Records which was a popular group amongst the Boston scene. It was in this group that Emily first developed her stage presence, vocal, performance and writing skills. In January of 2007, she enrolled at Berklee College of Music where she is currently on scholarship studying songwriting and developing her musical voice. She is currently playing shows as a solo artist with a backing band and working on the forthcoming EP "So young so Dumb So in Love" due for release at her graduation in May.
La Petite Celine - (Set time: 10:00 PM)
La Petite Celine
Born and raised in Manhattan, Celine started playing the piano when she was 7 years old, but you can definitely say she has been a performer since birth. Even at age 4 and 5, whenever her parents would have guests over, Celine always took it upon herself to act as the main source of entertainment- putting on shows, singing, dancing and even making paper jewelry for the invited guests.
Though piano lessons proved successful, Celine grew bored of reading other people's music and quickly realized she enjoyed much more writing her own. At 10 years old, she wrote her first piano ballad.
She then found her voice at age 12. She joined her school chorus and band (as a percussionist) and needless to say, they became her favorite classes.
With her new found singing voice and musical knowledge and training, Celine started putting lyrics to music and began to create song. At 15 years old, Celine discovered her mother's dusty nylon string guitar and immediately fell in love. She taught herself to play and from there, Celine was off to the races, constantly playing and always writing. But she wanted more. The thrill it gave her was incomparable to anything else. She she proceeded to teach herself trumpet, mandolin and a little ukelele as well.
Celine still lives in New York City and with a good number of original songs under her belt is ready to share herself with New York.
And with all the support she has received from the people around her in this beautiful city, Celine invites you to experience her art, her truth and to watch her grow even more.
