Jeanette Berry and the Soul Nerds - (Set time: 9:30 PM)
Jeanette Berry and the Soul Nerds
Comprising of a revolving group of some of Philly’s brightest young musicians, The Soul Nerds were born through shared musical taste and pure fun. Jeanette Berry and the Soul Nerds bring the souls of each band member to the music being played. The group consisting of Drums, Bass, Guitar, Keyboard and Background Vocals bring new music to the ears of music fans and original spins to those songs already made. With influences like Chaka Chan, Stevie Wonder, Mary J. Blige, Roy Hargrove, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, India Arie, The Roots, and many more, they bring their technical gifts and love of the music to every performance and record produced.
Christopher King - (Set time: 8:30 PM)
Christopher King
From his early musical beginnings, singer/songwriter Christopher King has spent his musical career absorbing various musical influences and experiences, even at a young age, taking in the constant stream of music on his parents' radio and playing with whatever he could get his hands on musically, culminating in music that spans various genres. At 14, he discovered the guitar and found a way to bring the worlds he was creating in his head to life, cutting his teeth playing Stevie Ray Vaughan, Aerosmith, Jimi Hendrix, Metallica, Bruce Springsteen, BB King, and Guns n' Roses. After studying at The Berklee School of Music in Boston, King returned to his home in New Jersey and started a metal band, Morning Star, in 2005. Since then, King has honed his abilities playing throughout the tri-state area in bands of various genres, currently playing with the band Sylvana Joyce and the Moment as the guitarist.
Christopher King's music was born in basement riffs and etched in weathered notebooks. It is a music that searches for its day in the sun, and the content reflects that. With characters and situations that deal with issues of life, love, hate, the joy of success, and the weight of sin, King spares no expense in creating a world both sonic and literal, seeking to bring them to life in his recordings and live performances.
